2 pounds frozen strawberries OR 1 quart fresh berries

½ cup maple syrup OR rice malt syrup

3 tbsp. arrowroot dissolved in ¼ cup cold water

Place the berries and syrup in a covered saucepan and heat just to boiling. Immediately reduce heat and uncover the pot. When berries are tender, stir in the dissolved arrowroot until the sauce thickens. Remove the heat immediately. Variations: blueberry, raspberry, apple.
